Summary
To develop a scalable algorithm for identifying patterns and anomalies, which could be then used to build a predictive model to detect problem behaviour in real-time.
Proposed by
International Game Technology (IGT) is a multinational gaming company that produces slot machines and other gaming technology. The company is headquartered in London.
The company is engaged in operating and providing an integrated portfolio of technology products and services across various gaming markets, including lottery management services, online lotteries, electronic gaming machines, sports betting, interactive gaming and commercial services.
Description
Players who have a gambling problem or are at risk of developing one represent an important segment of our market that has been challenging to fully understand and manage. Since most players play anonymously, it is not possible to single out individuals that exhibit playing habits that are suspect.
The goal is to develop a scalable algorithm for identifying patterns and anomalies, which could be then used to build a predictive model to detect problem behaviour in real-time.
In wager-based games, typically, there is a base game and one or more bonus games. The base game involves setting three or more animated reels into motion. Each reel has several symbols, a player sets a wager and spins the reels, if all reels stop at a certain symbol combination, the player wins. The stop position of the reels is determined randomly, and the pay-out of the game is determined by a pay table which is regulated by government legislation, determined during game design and does not change during game.
Data
The challenge has the following sample datasets available for download- A scalable solution for identifying patterns and anomalies from large sets of game play data. Accuracy level still unknown and would like to use the historical data and subject matter experts to validate our assumptions.
- A predictive model that can predict if a player is a problem gambler or are at risk of developing problem behaviour in real-time.
- Providing data visualization for the identified patterns in a way such that business users can easily interpret and interact with visual presentations, particularly with respect to understanding the personality traits of a complex behaviour model.
